Executive Director – Kristin Hagen

Kristin began her journey in healthcare serving as a hospital volunteer.  She later trained and certified as an Emergency Medical Technician. In 1995, Kristin went on to work for Idaho’s largest global employer, Micron Technology. Through career transitioning, Kristin cross trained her skills and started A Line Above, LLC, a high-quality clinical documentation service organization serving physicians, hospitals, and facilities, both rural and urban. During this tenure, Kristin was elected as Utah-Idaho’s delegate, followed by service on AHDI’s National Leadership Board of Directors, 2009-2012. Kristin’s journey continued with appointment as Director of Curriculum Development. Together, she collaboratively worked with American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) for online Medical Billing/Coding training delivery and helped integrate the nation’s first online Medical Scribe training program. Kristin has volunteered her time and expertise with Washington-Idaho’s Regional Extension Center and Certification Commission for Health Information Technology.

Kristin is a graduate of Kaplan University, Summa Cum Laude, in Health Information Technology and has completed clinical education in Nursing at Carrington College. Through high-quality excellence in leadership, systems design, innovation, and standardization, Kristin works to shape sought after certified medical scribes, known today as Clinical Information Managers (CIMs). Kristin enjoys spending time with her family, outdoor recreational activities, and implemented integrative health into her lifestyle.


Luis Moreno, MD – President

Dr. Moreno is co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of ScribeAmerica, LLC. Raised by single mom in East LA, he attended Loyola High School in Los Angeles, then went on to attend UCLA where he received a bachelor’s of science in physiology, graduating with summa cum laude departmental honors. He was accepted into Harvard Medical School where he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and pursued his studies in Milan, Italy. After graduating from Harvard Medical School, he started his medical training at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City and completed his residency at UCLA. He achieved his board certification in emergency medicine in 2003. It was about this same time that he began devoting time to establishing the LA Gang Tattoo removal program in collaboration with Fr. Boyle at Homeboy Industries. He continues to donate his time and expertise to various philanthropic community projects benefitting LA’s urban youth. After his residency, he also started a cosmetic practice and became the National Medical Director of Cosmetic Training in Injectables for the Radiance MedSpa Corporation. He lives in Hollywood, CA and is an avid reader, globe-trotter, thrill-seeker as well as a devoted son, husband and father.

 

Michael Murphy, MD – Vice President

Dr. Murphy has been a leader on issues such as Emergency Department throughput, EDIS implementation and Clinical Information Manager education, training and policy since 2003.

Dr. Murphy co-founded and serves as the CEO of ScribeAmerica, a professional certified Scribe/Clinical Information Manager staffing and management company. Additionally, he co-founded Medical Scribe/CIM Education System a subsidiary of ScribeAmerica whose main focus is integration of standardized certified Scribe curriculum into state education systems.

He also served on the board of a EDIS technology company, TAPSemr, with throughput, ease of use, multiple users, data collection and bedside documentation as a priority.

Dr. Murphy completed his medical degree from St. George’s University and has co-authored one textbook and is involved in 2 peer reviewed articles.

Dr. Michael Murphy was a past Army Ranger at the 1st Ranger Battalion where various leadership skills and standard operating procedures were developed and applied to his current work.

Andrew Mulvey, MD, FACEP
Andy Mulvey is an actively practicing emergency physician who recognizes the importance of the science, art, and business of medicine. Balancing his role as a business leader, consultant and practicing emergency physician, his unique skill set has allowed him to excel at all aspects of his professional life. He believes in a straight-shooting, no-nonsense approach that engenders trust in both his patients and physician partners. Andy’s values were formed early in life. Growing up in a middle class, Midwestern family, he learned that optimism, hard work, and confidence in one’s abilities are critical ingredients of leadership. These same personality traits now allow him to gain consensus among diverse stakeholders and inspire them to commit to his vision for a better future. This dedication and passion is reflected daily in Andy’s emergency medicine practice.Nearly fourteen years ago, Andy began his emergency medicine practice when he and three other physicians started a new group to staff a single emergency department. Within a year, his vision and strong commitment to the group’s success resulted in his partners selecting him to become the practice’s CEO. Over the years, his passionate leadership style and competitive fire continued to drive the practice’s business growth while maintaining the high quality care he demanded. Prior to his departure in 2011, the group expanded regionally to staff five emergency departments with over 120,000 annual patient visits. Andy has since then taken a leadership role as chairman of a busy urban emergency department in the Midwest. During his career, Andy has worked over 25,000 clinical hours in several emergency departments, has maintained outstanding patient satisfaction scores and has never been sued for malpractice. It is this combination of experience, clinical excellence and business expertise which Andy eagerly brings to each new professional opportunity which arises.In 2008, Andy founded a consulting company called MDPerformance, LLC. Utilizing his years of experience as both a practicing emergency physician as well as the knowledge developed while leading an independent physician group, MDPerformance provides an array of services to assist physician groups and hospitals. Andy has become proficient at scribe program development, physician documentation, and professional billing and collection services. Over the past four years, MDPerformance has provided consulting services to physicians and hospitals in several states across the country.Andy attended Indiana University, was elected into the Phi Beta Kappa national honor society, and graduated with honors in chemistry. He earned his M.D. at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and completed his residency at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, where he was elected to a leadership position in the Emergency Medicine Residents Association. Outside of work, Andy devotes himself almost exclusively to his beautiful wife, two kids, and triathlon training.
